GUIDELINES FOR ABSTRACT PREPARATION AND SUBMISSION ABSTRACTS MUST BE SUBMITTED ONLINE. CLICK HERE TO SUBMIT DEADLINES AND REQUIREMENTS
Abstracts must be submitted on-line and received no later than March 1, 2008 . Late submissions will not be accepted. Once your abstract has been submitted on-line, you should receive an e-mail response within one week acknowledging receipt. If you do not, please contact the Society office immediately at 978-640-9176.
NEFS will accept 2 categories of abstracts for 2008.
Prize paper contenders: Abstracts that contain original work not published previously or presented at a meeting of a national or international scientific organization prior to the NEFS 2008 Annual Meeting will be accepted for consideration as a prize paper. The prize paper will be presented as an oral presentation at the NEFS Annual meeting. NEFS will pay expenses for travel and lodging for the presenting author. The presenting author will also be flown to California to present the paper at the Pacific Coast Reproductive Society meeting held April 9-13, 2008. Abstracts submitted in this category and accepted but not selected for the prize paper will be presented as posters. Previously published abstracts: Abstracts that contain original work but have already been that were published/presented between October 2007 (including ASRM 2007)and the abstract submission deadline will be accepted for consideration as posters at the Annual NEFS meeting. These abstracts cannot be considered candidates for prize paper contention. ABSTRACT FORMAT AND GUIDELINES
Please be sure that your abstract completely describes the research performed so that the Program Committee can evaluate the quality, originality, and completeness of the work. Abstract quality will be assessed using the following categories: Originality of concept; Importance of research; Clarity of presentation; Scientific methodology; Appropriateness of conclusions.
Please submit your abstract using the following structured format:
- Objective: An introductory sentence or two indicating the central hypothesis or goals of the study.
- Design: A brief statement describing the overall study design.
- Materials/Methods: A description of experimental procedures including applicable statistical methodology.
- Result(s): A description of the major findings of the study.
- Conclusion(s): A brief summary of the authors’ central and important conclusions.
Please note the following formatting requirements: - Abstract should be single spaced
- Font should be Times/Times Roman, 10 pt
- Limit the body of abstract to 350 words, single-spaced
- Type the title of the paper in bold and in capital letters, and set it flush with the left margin (example below)
- The principal author’s name and address information should be typed in the fields provided
- Authors’ names (including principal author) should be listed consecutively under “authors”, with two initials first (if applicable), and surnames last. Academic degrees should be omitted (see example below)
- Institutional affiliations of authors (including the institution, city and two-letter state abbreviation or province, and country) should follow the list of authors. If there are multiple authors located in different departments and/or institutions, their department and institution must be identified with a letter or number in brackets [] following the author’s name, and identified preceding the institution’s name (see example below).
- Enter the body of the abstract as one piece
- Graphs and charts to be included with the abstract should be emailed separately to michellepicher@nefs.org referencing the title and lead author of the abstract
- List all sources of support

It is the responsibility of the principal author to:
- Ensure that the abstract conforms to all of the Society’s submission instructions.
- Verify that all co-author(s) has/have consented to be included on the abstract as written.
- Verify and provide disclosure documentation for all authors via the database.
- Receive notification from the Society office regarding acceptance or rejection of the abstract and prepare the oral or poster presentation as required.
- Be present to present the paper at the NEFS Annual meeting.
