DESCRIPTION:

• Given the prevalence of physical and sexual traumas among female populations, patients presenting for treatment in reproductive medicine clinics are likely to have a history of trauma. Additionally, the experience of infertility and reproductive loss are often viewed as traumatic by patients. Special consideration for the provision of trauma-informed care to fertility patients is necessary to provide patient centered care which does not re-traumatize patients and does promote healing.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

• Explain the consequences of trauma & role in clinical practice
• Develop strategy for implementing trauma-informed techniques into practice and training
• Apply learned information to improve patient care & reduce adverse outcomes
